This 6-part monthly course is for beginner and experienced writers seeking structure and community support. Explore character, conflict and dialogue. Engage in guided writing and improv exercises. Collaborate and get feedback in a supportive setting. Facilitator: Jane Ann Gonzalez.


Jane Ann Gonzalez is an experienced educator and dramatist with a BFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and an MA in Secondary English Education from the City College of New York. She brings over two decades of classroom and leadership experience in English and performing arts education, including her current role at Ridgefield High School, where she teaches Acting and the University of Connecticut’s Early College Experience First-Year Writing course. Jane has a strong background in curriculum development, student-centered learning, and literary and character analysis. A longtime advocate for the arts, she has also directed and reviewed entries for the Brewster Theater Company’s Playwright Festival.


This course is non-refundable after the first class.

Description:


This 3 week workshop is designed to equip new and experienced theater directors with the essential skills and knowledge needed to lead productions effectively. Over three weeks, participants will engage in interactive sessions that cover various aspects of directing, from script analysis to working with actors/tech teams, holding auditions, and rehearsal prep. Practical take-aways in a collaborative environment!.
