Producer

We are looking for new or established playwrights to submit their one-act plays for our fourth annual Playwrights Festival. To be eligible to enter please follow the below rules:

  • Plays must be one-act and less than 30 minutes.
  • You must own all the rights to your work.
  • Plays must have been written after January 1, 2021.
  • We are accepting all genres.
  • Solo shows must be no longer than 20 minutes.
  • Pay the $25 Fee Per Play Entered (max of 3 plays)​. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • Send the two pdfs detailed BELOW the fee button of your one-act to BrewsterTheaterInfo@gmail.com with the subject of "2024 Playwright Festival Submission- <name of play>"
  • Include your contact information in that email.
  • Submission Deadline is May 1st, 2024


Payment is via Square and we can accept all major credit cards.  We do not issue waivers for the fee and will not consider your play without payment. You will receive an email confirming full receipt once we receive both the plays and the fee.


Full Length Play Submission

In addition to submitting a one-act play, each author can also submit one full-length play to be considered for 2025.  This will be handled separately from our one-act festival, and we will notify any author in which we have interest by October 2024. We only need one copy of your full-length play and it should have your contact information.

Format and Submission of One-Act Plays 


Submission of your play allows Brewster Theater Company the right to perform your work in 2024. If accepted, you also grant the right for us to film the show for archival purposes and use up to 10 seconds of it for promotional purposes in 2025

To submit your play send us TWO (2) copies of your ONE-ACT play in pdf format no later than May 1, 2024. We are requesting two copies of your play.

The first copy should include:

  • One page with all your contact info.
  • Each page should have headers and footers that include the name of the play and your name.
  • A description of characters.
  • A brief synopsis of your play.
  • Plays should be double-spaced between characters, single-spaced dialogue, with proper play formatting and no more than 30 pages with a 12-point font size.


The second copy should be a blind copy and not have your name or any information in the headers or footers.

  • Remove all personal identification from the play.
  • Do not include your contact info or name in the pdf.
  • Do not include the name of the play in the pdf.
  • The name of the file of the blind copy should have the name of your play plus the words blind copy. For example, if your play is called "Play of the Century" the file name of the pdf should be Play of the Century blind copy.pdf.
  • No identifying information (including the name of the play) should be on any of the pages.

Winning plays will be performed on the weekend of September 14,15 and 16th.  You will be notified by June 15th, 2024 of our decision.
