All auditions are at Drew Methodist Church, 28 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY 10512.

Casting

All ethnicities are open for all characters. Genders of the characters will be portrayed as written, but actors may audition for whichever role they feel comfortable with. Age ranges represent the age of the character and do not necessarily reflect the age of the actor portraying them.

How to Audition

1.Complete the 2026 BTC Playwright's Festival Audition Form — Open the form
2.Then email Vince Umbrino at [email protected] to set up an audition time. [email protected]
3.Please be prepared to present a 2-minute monologue (comedy or drama) to our directors.

If you are unable to attend the audition and would like to submit a video, please indicate as such on the sign-up form and in your email communication.

The Theater at Drew, Drew United Methodist Church, 28 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, New York 10512

Actors must be available for all performance dates:

—Friday, September 11 at 7:30 PM
—Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 PM
—Sunday, September 13 at 2:00 PM

In addition, actors will be expected to attend:

—Tech Week: September 6–10, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
—At least one Scene Shop Saturday (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
—Strike, immediately following the 2 PM show

Typical rehearsal schedule:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (7:00–9:30 PM), and Sundays (1–4 PM).

*Not every actor will be needed for every rehearsal.

BTC Jr Summer Intensive 2026

Shrek The Musical Jr

BTC Jr. returns this summer with a two-week intensive experience, culminating in a full production of Shrek The Musical Jr!

Who Can Register

Students entering grades 4 through 9 in September 2026 may register.

Schedule

Sessions are held Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM, for two weeks beginning August 10, 2026.

These immersive sessions include audition preparation, rehearsals (acting, singing, and dancing), and participating in the tech elements of our production! Our students will be valued — each one receiving their moment to shine on stage. Additionally, they will be engaged in a variety of activities each day.

Four performances: August 21, 22, and 23, 2026.
