Cast Announced for Cole Porter’s
Anything Goes
The Brewster Theater Company is proud to announce the cast of their summer 2010 production of ANYTHING GOES. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gladysz, this classic musical about madcap antics aboard the ocean liner S.S. American, bound for London from New York, is a sure crowd-pleaser. Mixed in with the broad, and occasionally slapstick humor, are such Cole Porter classics as I Get A Kick Out Of You, You’re The Top, It’s De-Lovely, and of course, Anything Goes.
Mr. Gladysz, who was at the helm of last summer’s production of BYE BYE BIRDIE, says he chose this show for its upbeat flavor and broad appeal to audience members of all ages. Performers, as well as orchestra and crew members, also run the gamut of ages as adults, teens, and children -- many from the same families, are part of the show. “Many of the performers who were in BIRDIE have returned; they all said it was fun to do a show as a family – a great bonding experience!” says Mr. Gladysz.
Former BTC president and founding member Stacy Dumont is especially thrilled to be performing in this production with her husband Bob and teenage daughter Ellie. Dumont was BTC’s president at its inception 10 years ago when Ellie, her eldest child, was 8. The best part? “The opportunity to spend time with your busy husband and 17 year old daughter is priceless," acknowledges Dumont.
Margaret Carey, who is the show’s producer, will wear two hats as she also appears in the production along with husband Peter and daughters Antonia and Jacqueline. It’s also a family affair for stage manager Judy Marano, whose son Jeffrey performs, while she, husband Mark, and Jeffrey’s twin Jason work backstage. The Steins are another BTC family who will be spending the summer in various aspects of this production. Paul, who served as BTC’s president, appears in the show with son Mark while wife Jeane Stein will be house manager and daughter Jessica plays trumpet in the pit.
Other families will be participating in the show together but not necessarily all onstage. Set builder Frank Funigiello, concessions manager Noelle Smith and costumer Kitty Ridenour will work behind the scenes while their children, Frank Funigiello (pit), Eddie Smith (cast member) and Melissa Ridenour (cast member) perform or play in the pit. Anthony Bollella is in the cast while his twin, Alexandra Bollella is is a member of the crew.
Parent-child cast mates are Regina and Emma Sweeney, Barbara and Jessica Disraeli, and Joel Feldstein and Carly Fields. Siblings who will perform together include Bridget and Theresa Carroll, Marianne and Andre Faivre, Maria and Michael Grispin and twins Nicole and Michelle LaRusso. Cousins Rachel Yee, Jenna Garecht, and Kayla Pinzur will also share the stage this summer.
Rounding out the cast of ANYTHING GOES’ ‘extended’ family are adult performers Patrick Allie, Cristina Balsamá, Patricia Cassidy, Tony DeCristofaro , Shannon-Courtney Egan, Barbara Kessler, Peter Lerman, Rachel Halko, and Patricia Sebastian. Other teen/child performers in the show include Joe Andrade, Rose Bisogno, Matt Compo, Dilhan Dalo, Bailey Foard, James Hussey, and Alex Sanyshyn.
The musical piece of the show will be under the direction of Peter Esser. Members of the pit include Ken Donnelly (Guitar), Joe Spinelli (Drums), Frank Funigiello Jr (Saxophone), Jessica Stein (Trumpet), Kayla Rollins (Violin), Avery Holly Esser (cello), Lauren Falkl (Clarinet), Maddie Collins (Clarinet), Kate Davison (Flute), Eileen Austin (Flute), and Andrew Port (Oboe).
Under the direction of Mark and Judy Marano and technical director Joseph Beahm, student assistant stage managers Brad Postian and James Smith will oversee crew members Alexandra Bolella, Elliya Cutler, Cody Demichele, Tamara Kirkman, Eliana Lebwohl, Jason Marano, Vaishali Parkash, Brenna Roche, and Rachel Sangalli.
Vocal director is Angeline Brown and assistant dance instructor is Amber Miller.
Performances will be August 5, 6, and 7 at 8 pm and August 7 at 2 pm at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $18/adults and $15/students and seniors. Order your tickets prior to August 5 and receive $2 off regular admission. Group sales for not-for-profit community groups are available.
