The Brewster Theater Company is proud
to present their 2011 Season
The Brewster Theater Company is pleased to announce its
2012 season! In the coming year, Brewster Theater Com-pany will
present four plays dealing with issues of love and loss.
Beginning in February, BTC will open the year with Tennessee
William's classic American drama THE GLASS MENAGERIE. Welcome to
the world of the Wingfields: shy, crippled Laura, her brother
Tom, and their mother, the faded Southern belle Amanda. When Tom
brings a friend from work, Jim, home one night, all the family's
troubles stemming from their father's abandonment years ago seem
to melt away. But in the plays of Tennessee Williams, nothing is
ever that simple. Williamses elegiac masterpiece brought a
radical new lyricism to Broadway . the tragedy, fragility, and
tenderness of this memory play. have made it one of Americaes
most powerful, timeless, and compelling plays.
Laughter is in the air in April, thanks to Noel Coward's
sprightly comedy BLITHE SPIRIT. When socialite and nov-elist
Charles Condomine invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant,
Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a seance, hoping to
gather material for his next book, the scheme backfires. He
quickly becomes haunted by the ghost of his annoying and
temperamental first wife, Elvira, following the seance. Only
Charles can see or hear Elvira, who makes continued,
increasingly desperate efforts to get him to join her in the
spirit realm. Coward's surprisingly con-temporary comedy broke
box office records in Britain during its original production,
and was most recently revived on Broadway in 2009 with Angela
Lansbury, Rupert Everett, and Christine Ebersole.
BTC's summer musical will go all the way - THE FULL MONTY, that
is! Six Buffalo, New York steel workers, recently laid off and
low on prospects, decide to start a strip show at a local club
after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring Chippendale's
company. As they prepare for the show, working through their
fears and anxieties, they overcome their inner demons and find
strength in their camaraderie. Nominated for ten Tony Awards in
2000, THE FULL MONTY will have audiences laughing, clapping, and
singing along.
Things begin to get mysterious in October, as BTC stages a
REHEARSAL FOR MURDER. Exactly one year after his leading lady
(and fiancee) mysteriously died on opening night, playwright
Alex Dennison brings back the pro-ducer, stage manager,
director, and actors from that production to the theater in
which it was staged, ostensibly to read his new play. But it
soon becomes clear that Alex has more in mind than staging a
play - he wants to find out who murdered his beloved! Packed
with tension and twists, D.D. Brooke's adaptation of the Edgar
Award-winning teleplay by Richard Levinson and William Link will
keep you guessing right until the very end!
Join The Brewster Theater Company - on stage, behind stage, before
stage - for a great 2012 season!
